About Us |
|
The Texas Association for Investigative Hypnosis (TAIH) is a non-profit organization which provides continuing education to registered TCLEOSE certified Forensic Hypnotists. The Board of Directors and Officers are nominated and elected to serve one year terms. The Board consists of the President, Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer, Advisor to the Board (Immediate Past-President) and seven Regional Directors. A two-day annual training conference is held in the fall in Huntsville, Texas on the campus of Sam Houston State University. A Board of Director’s meeting is held immediately following the conclusion of training, at which time the current Board nominates and elects new board members. TAIH was created in 1983. In 1987, members of TAIH were responsible for hypnosis legislation being passed. This legislation governed how hypnosis is used by law enforcement in Texas. Texas became the first state which requires mandatory training, testing and certification of police officers who use hypnotic interviewing techniques. Hypnotic refreshed recall is admissible in civil cases and criminal cases by both the prosecution and defense in Texas. The primary mission of TAIH is to disseminate current information and provide training to its members on a variety of hypnosis related topics with the primary focus and emphasis being on the forensic application involving police officers with witnesses and victims to crimes.
